Nestor Olhagaray

Nestor Olhagaray (Chile, 1946) is an artist, teacher and curator. He studied at the School of Fine Arts at the University of Chile (1965), obtaining the title of Professor of Fine Arts at State in 1970. He also makes the Course of Aesthetics at the Faculty of Philosophy and Education at the University of Chile (1969) and studied at various schools in Moscow and Paris. His extensive videography, held since 1985, has been worked in different formats, allowing him to perform various shows and exhibitions in prominent galleries in Chile and abroad. Among them are: CAV Drawing Room Contemporary Art Museum of Chile, University of Paris XIII, Villetaneuse (France), Salle du Bally, Epinal (France), X Biennial of Visual Arts of Paris (France); Gallery Bucci, Santiago , Chilean art Exhibition of Staatliche Kunsthalle (Germany), Third World Newsreel, (USA), Goethe Institut Rfa, Chile. As a teacher he has taught classes and workshops in various faculties Chilean and UTEM, ARCOS, DUOC UC and University of Chile, too, has taught at the University of Bordeaux, France. His areas of interest: photography, plastic morphology, visual communication, film, video, image theory, visual semiotics, among others. His extensive experience in creating audiovisual material has become a participant as a juror and curator of various events nationally and internationally, which highlights his role as director in all the previous versions of the BAM, called Biennial of Video and New Media Santiago, held at the Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of Chile. Among the publications that have been in charge of the book highlights the video-art by net-art of Lom Editors. Currently, a candidate in the Ph.D. Program, Major Aesthetics and Art Theory at the University of Chile.
